Finally, Motorcycle Transitions Sunglasses Get AS DARK as Your Daily Sunglasses

Other photochromic motorcycle sunglasses on the market today just don’t get dark enough. When you ride under the sun, your eyes need Transitions™ XtrActive™ New Generation™ lenses that get as dark as your daily sunglasses. The New Generation™ lenses also perform better even in the hottest temperatures.

Comparison between generic photochromics and Eclipse XT with Transitions XtrActives
Compare the darkness of generic photochromics vs the Eclipse XT.

The Eclipse XT will change from totally clear to dark grey in seconds. There’s no need to change to clear night riding glasses when the sun goes down. Now you can comfortably ride during the day or night with a single pair of sunglasses.

How Dark Does the Eclipse XT Transitions™ Sunglasses for Bikers Get?

Transitions™ Xtractive™ Next Generation lenses feature the latest technology Transitions™ technology. These lenses perform the best in hot temperatures, in the car and even indoors for blue light protection.  Inside the car, the lenses will achieve a category 2 level darkness.

Benefits of Transitions XtrActive New Generation

So, what is “sunglass dark?” You can watch the video below which shows how dark the Eclipse XT actually gets. The Eclipse XT lenses darken to transmit only 10% of light—that’s a 90% tint at 73°F (23°C).
At 95°F (35°C) The Eclipse XT lenses darken to transmit 20% of the light at an 80% tint. In a matter of seconds, the lenses will darken to full capacity. It takes a bit longer for the lenses to change from dark grey (or brown) to clear, so don’t expect the lenses to completely change color if you ride through a tunnel.  You can read more about the latest Transition™ XtrActive™ technology here.

In addition, the Eclipse XT lenses block 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays in both clear and darkened states.

Eclipse XT Transitions™ Lens Options for Bikers

Eclipse XT Transitions™ with Anti Reflective Coating

Anti-Reflective coating adds 4 benefits:

  • Helps decrease halo effect around lights at night
  • Adds additional super tough premium Rx grade scratch coat to the lenses
  • Lenses will resist dust, fingerprints, oils and water
  • Helps the lenses react even faster to UV rays

Eclipse XT Transitions™ Style Mirrors

The mirror becomes visible as the lenses darken.  The mirror is not visible when the lenses are clear. Adding Transition Style Mirrors provide the following benefits:

  • Reduce the sun’s glare.  You probably noticed that ski goggles are usually mirrored.
  • Clarifies vision by reflecting light off the surface of the lens.  This is the reason why your eyes feel the soothing effect when wearing mirror sunglasses.
  • They give you a little more attitude and look amazing.

Eclipse XT Transitions™ Polarized

The Eclipse XT Polarized glasses polarize and darken when exposed to the sun’s UV rays. However, the lenses do not get as dark as the non-polarized Eclipse XT lenses. So, there is a trade-off. In addition, the Eclipse XT Polarized do not darken behind a windshield or a visor. However, bikers have been very satisfied with the darkness of the polarized version.

The Transitions™ XtrActive™ Polarized lens has been recently upgraded and gets even darker than before. So, if you are more sensitive to glare, Bikershades recommends the Eclipse XT Polarized. You will be happy with the increased clarity and protection from bright sunlight.

Polarized Lenses reduce glare from shiny surfaces such as water, chrome bumpers, windows, car hoods, mirrors and roads. You’ve probably heard that most fishermen love polarized glasses because they can see the fish under the water!
